Welcome to October 2024 News

Contacting the School

Please be reminded about the ways to contact school staff, including Mrs Armistead.  Please note, Mrs Armistead is not contactable via Dojo Messages.

ParentApp – PA Connect – all newsletters, forms, information and letters will be sent out via ParentApp as a push notification, text message or email.  All parents need access to this as it is our main method of communication.

Parent Pay – all trips, residential, music lessons, clubs, school dinners, night owls and early birds are to be paid for using Parent Pay.  In paying for the activity, you are also giving consent for your child to attend the activity.  We MUST have this permission for activities that take place outside the local area of the school.  All parents need access to Parent Pay.

CONTACT US – Any information that needs to be shared with the teacher, office staff, Mrs Armistead, our SENCO or Pastoral Team can be emailed to contact-us@skertonstlukes.lancs.sch.uk.  Someone will endeavour to reply to your email within 1 working day of receiving it.

Telephone – You can call school anytime on 01524 65445.  The phone may not be manned at all times.  If there is no one available to take your call, please leave a message or email school using contact-us

CLASS DOJO – This is specifically used to share learning including homework and home learning.  Parents are encouraged to see their children’s learning and the whole school pages where we share whole school information.  It is very easy to message staff using Class Dojo but all too easy for staff to miss these messages.

PLEASE DO NOT MESSAGE STAFF USING DOJO.

Please call or email contact-us@skertonstlukes.lancs.sch.uk .  We will endeavour to reply to your messages within 1 working day of receiving them.  It is NOT ok to expect a member of staff to reply before 8.00am, after 5.00pm or at weekends.

In person – Staff members are always in the playground before and after school, as are members of SLT.  If you need to pass on a message, we ask that you email or ring and only talk face to face in an emergency.  If you require a longer discussion with a member of staff, please telephone or email to make an appointment.

Ways to Get Involved

Join in Friends of Skerton St Luke’s (FOSSL) activities.  All parents of pupils at the school are automatically members of FOSSL so anyone can come along to meetings and join in with all fundraising etc.  Keep an eye out for the up-coming Christmas events Newsletter. For more information email friends of skertonstlukes@gmail.com or DM on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/frien...

Become a School Governor.  School governors are volunteers who work together with the Headteacher and the local authority to improve education and other outcomes for all pupils. The governors meet as a full governing body three times per year.   If you would like to know more about this role please contact Mrs Armistead on 01524 65445 or email contact-us@skertonstlukes.lancs.sch.uk.

Volunteer to listen to children read.  If you have some time to spare, a good grasp of written English, and if you enjoy spending time with children, you could become a school reader. For more information please contact Mrs Goodwin on 01524 65445 or email contact-us@skertonstlukes.lancs.sch.uk.

Offer to lead an after school club/ lunch time club.  We love offering different extra-curricular activities to the children in school.  If you have a particular skill that you would like to share with children then consider offering to lead a club in school. Some examples might be gardening, sewing or cooking. For information please contact school on 01524 65445 or email contact-us@skertonstlukes.lancs.sch.uk.

Parents Evening we encourage all parents to make an appointment and come to meet with your child’s class teacher and find out how they are getting on in school.  Parents Evening this term is 4th November and 7th November.  Emails to make an appointment will be sent out soon via School Cloud

Attendance

Please remember that it is your responsibility to make sure your child/ children are in school, on time, each day that school is open.  Classroom doors are open from 8:45am.

In line with Government guidelines and school policy, we are monitoring attendance regularly and contacting parents with up-to-date attendance information.  Please do not be offended if you get such a letter, this is to ensure that you are informed about your child’s attendance and to share ways that we can support this in school should you need it.

Testimonials

It’s a lovely community. We all feel like a part of St Luke’s family. My child loves her teachers and knows other members of staff. It’s lovely to walk into school and people know my child’s name and always say hello to her, even teachers from other classes or Mrs Armistead.

Parent

I know when I drop my kids off they are happy and safe and they both enjoy their time in school.

Parent

Thank you for not only teaching my daughter but also caring for her. She’s really happy at school and is making great progress in all areas of learning.

Parent

The staff have been so supportive of my child with Special Educational Needs. They are amazing and it makes me confident that my daughter is well looked after and if she has any problems they will help.

Parent of a child with SEND

The Reception Open Day really showed the school in a good light. The Headteacher showed us round and knew all of the pupil’s names. All of the children we met were friendly and polite but more importantly they were all smiling whilst learning.

Prospective Parent

Teachers are very helpful, friendly and approachable
